🌸アマリリス
ヒガンバナ科/半耐寒性春植え球根【別名】ヒッペアストラム【花ことば】誇り
原 産 地 ：中央・南アメリカ
花 期 ：５～６月
出回り時期 ：ほぼ周年
用 途 ：庭植え、鉢植え、切り花
特 徴 ：学名はヒッペアストラムだが一般には英名のアマリリスで流通する。球根から太い花茎を伸ばし、先端に豪華な大輪の花を２～４輪横向きに咲かせる。花の直径が20cm以上になる大輪花や、水さえ与えれば簡単に花が咲くオランダ直輸入のポット植えなどに人気がある。原種のシロスジアマリリスはピンクの中輪の花を秋に咲かせる。
管 理 ：日当たりのよい温かい場所に置き、開花中は鉢土の表面が乾き始めたら水やりする。夏は雨を避けて風通しのよい半日陰に移し、葉が枯れ始めたら凍らない場所に置く。

用 途 ：鉢植え、ロックガーデン、つり鉢
特 徴 ：ゴールドダストの英名で親しまれているサキサティリスは強い香りのする濃黄色の小さな花を咲かせ、ロックガーデンなどに利用される。モンタナムは茎が這うように伸びて、芳香のあるレモンイエローの花を咲かせる。
管 理 ：できるだけ日当たりのよい戸外に置く。高温多湿に弱いで、夏は雨を避け風通しのよい半日陰に移す。花後軽く切り戻す。
🌸アルクトティス
キク科/非耐寒性多年草、秋まき１年草【別名】ハゴロモギク（羽衣菊）、アフリカギク
原 産 地 ：南アフリカ
花 期 ：４～６月
出回り時期 ：４～５月
用 途 ：鉢植え、庭植え、切り花
特 徴 ：草丈50~70cmで、灰色色の綿毛に覆われたやや大型の草花。長い花茎を伸ばし、先端に黄、オレンジ、クリーム色などのガーベラに似た花を１つ咲かせる。花の直径は約10cmで昼間は大きく開き、夜や曇天の日は閉じる。日本で出回るのはブニジウムとの交配種ベニディオ・アルクトティスなどで、ほとんどが交雑種である。
管 理 ：日当たりが悪いと花が開かないので、日のよく当たる戸外に置く。水やりが多すぎると徒長するので、鉢土が乾いてからたっぷり与える。花びらは花茎の元から切る。
